The Hardwick Area Food Pantry’s work became more vital than ever during the pandemic: since just March 2023, there has been a 25% increase in total households served monthly. As a response, we began to offer more frequent visits, additional federal food distribution, home deliveries, and improved referral processes. 30% of Pantry participants access the delivery program, and 30% access more frequent visits. In order to meet the demonstrated need in the HAFP service area, we teamed up with food shares in Craftsbury and Albany, so there are now three HAFP sites where people can access emergency food.
